Presently, Somesh is working as a music therapist with children and teenagers with autism and will be pioneering some of the new projects with young people and street children that The Music Therapy Trust is planning. A gifted percussionist Somesh has performed classical and light classical concerts and spiritual retreats in India and USA for more than 20 years. He holds a Tabla Visharad and Sangeet Acharya degree in Tabla. He has honed his skills in Tabla under the guidance of Ustad Akram Khan in Delhi and other percussion instruments with India’s leading percussion maestro Taufiq Quereshi. Somesh has more than 10 years of experience in teaching Indian classical vocal and Instrumental music to people of all age. While working with children and teenagers he has composed music for songs, dance and plays. While serving as a resident musician in a spiritual organization near Bombay, he gave talks and facilitated music sessions for the choir and retreats. This specialized music aims towards spiritual growth. It involves music and visualization and focuses on the significance of body, posture and breath in the context of music and spirituality. |
